Why is this so black?
So my friend is arguing with me that no one will buy a Mass Effect 4 after the awful ending of ME3. I want to know what you guys think. I would buy it because honestly a Mass Effect universe where The Reapers aren't the main thing any more sounds like fun.
Spoiler
Also you guys hear the news that the lead writer for Halo 4 is the guy who's going to be the lead writer for ME4?. Someone shoot me now -.-

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
I wont buy it...

Yes, the fact that H4's lead writer is on it makes me hyped beyond possible. I can't fucking wait to see what he does with the series, I loved his work on Halo before be left and I'm glad he's going into another series I like.

Honestly, to me, after three, the series just took a nose dive down a cliff for me. Do I really want to come back to it?

Granted, if it's post Reaper/Crucible firing, then that means they'd have to choose a canon ending, which they were against in the first place.

Then they'd likely want to run damage control, or could, with all the bits and oppurtunities they missed. Seriously, they had so many good oppurtunities for moments in 3 and they just dropped the ball.

The point is, do I really want to do that again? Do I really fucking want to invest my time in characters and a story, and then, when the big finale comes up, have everything stepped on and tossed around like an angry fucking toddler in a lego pile?

Personally, no.

Because what's left of the series? There's either post crucible firing, in which case that becomes a damage control mess, or there's a prequal, in which case we already know what the fuck happened.

Or they could just ignore ME3 completely? Have a brand new story with little reference to the previous games events? Honestly I would want a new story with new characters. Wouldn't even have to be a trilogy. Just a one game deal would be great. (although knowing EA that's probably not going to happen)

It's already confirmed that's it's unrelated to Shepard and the events he partook in. It's most likely going to run parallel to the first 3 games (happen at the same time but never cross paths)

And how would you do that without making it seem like everybody wasn't talking about the elephant in the room?

"Yo dawgs, there's a dead reaper in your backyard, you gonna clean that up?"

Set it awhile after the trilogy like 20 years or something along those lines. Where The Reaper problem isn't really a thing anymore and the whole universe story wise has just moved on.

I'm going to buy it, because Mass Effect 3 was a beautiful game before we saw the ending.  The rumor, and often-believed truth, is that Casey Hudson and the lead writer shut themselves up in a room, discussed the ending, and didn't let any of the other writers have a say.

After ME3, I think Bioware (and EA) learned their lesson and will make sure ME4 and the next set of games will be as fantastic as before.
