Ummm yeah about dark souls

HOLY FUCK! I thought the taurus was hard as balls. Now I am on to the forest. First of all I am making no fucking experience points, I haven't leveled up my character in fucking forever. There's some items that you fucking buy and they don't show up in your inventory. I payed XP for some arrows and nothing fucking happened. I bought a war pick or whatever it's called (it just looks like a scythe) and that showed up in my inventory. These fucking enemies are getting ridiculously hard lol. Holy fucking shit is this game ever had as nails. Take all of the most difficult video game bosses and most challenging video game moments I have ever played and put them all into one game. I gotta admit, I am seriously fucking sucked into this game, it's crazy.

He's supposed to go to the forest to get to a high level! The NPC's in the woods are fantastic for farming up to a decent level.

Forest is where you go to get your high level.

Upgrading weapons is far more effective than levelling up your character in terms of resulting damage output.

The forest is the best place to level up early on. Killing the giant stone knights gives you a good amount of souls. The tree's/bushes' soul reward is relatively marginal when you consider the effort of killing them as they attack you in groups. There are also hidden places in the area - if you want me to spoil their locations for you, just say so.

I think there's a seperate section for arrows, iirc, just like there is one for consumables or keys.

Blind runs are great until you hit a wall and spend 80 hours leveling to 45.

I have only been using the internet to figure out how to do certain attacks and stuff like what all the different stats do. It's insane how this game gives you so little guidance on how to even play it. I am level 20+ something now btw, idk where I could say I am in the game though. I got near to the forest past the first blacksmith but I need to go back and do more stuff. I am currently backtracking so I can find a good place to level grind.

Yeah my first run through I ended up completely skipping part of the game and it took me forever to beat it. Was totally worth it though.

I definitely don't feel ready for the catacombs... back to the forest I go. I am using my souls and shards to level up my weapons and armor, it makes a big improvement.

I don't look up walkthroughs or guides to any game unless it's something like the first silent hill, which I get stuck on so much. Even then I did the puzzles with no guides. I have always, ever since I was really young, thought that walkthroughs were a sort of cheating or they're just cheap. I am doing this run of the game blind, except for figuring out how to do common things like read stats, which the game doesn't tell me.
