Gameplay is pretty good, as are the graphics, but everything else is shit.

Boston is a trash setting. The game has no sidequests that aren't shitty settlement radiant quests, the main story about being a concerned parent is dumb, the game has almost no RPG elements and plays more like Far Cry, and the dialogue is shit and gives no options.

Yeah, it's a decent game imo, but the worst entry in the core games. I'm having more fun than I expected to have with the game.

It's a decent game but sucks compared to the other games (aside from Tactics and BoS).

It's literally Fallout for normies.

Plus it fucks with the lore and adds nothing particularly interesting of its own either.

Settlements are way too much of a focus and are a main reason why the game suffers, along with the dialogue and the Legendary system.

Despite that, it's enjoyable on its own merits.

But funnily, if it weren't a Fallout game, I would have stopped playing it ages ago for the same reasons I don't really like Borderlands.

What's the game like when it comes to exploring and just walking around randomly killing shit place to place? For Witcher 3 the game has very good quest and depth but for a world to explorer I find it boring.

Combat is...kinda fun. It's a bit too easy though, lacks any intensity.

The world itself is pretty dull for the most part, but the city of Boston has a lot of nice verticality to it. The Glowing Sea also has a lot of cool hidden stuff.

I'm not all that disappointed with the DLC plan. I mean, I like settlements and it follows Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim in doing two big ones and a smaller/ a bunch of smaller ones. Tbh Fallout 3 was the outlier in the DLC stuff and Vegas was a different developer.

Though taking mods and repackaging them into official content is kind of a dick move, as well as nonsensical within the context of the setting.

It's a bethesda game and there's only like 30 hours of content. That 30 hours was great, but yeah, it sucks compared to their other RPGs.

I wouldn't say it sucks. It's a serviceable sandbox shooter.

It just isn't a very good Fallout, or even a rpg for that matter.

too often do people rate games relative only to the rest of the series, which is stupid in my opinion

when rating a game, you should rate it primarily as a game first, and an installment second
