i honestly couldve forgiven the entire game if only we had some more interaction with liquid and boss. make the reveal actually somewhat surprising, make liquid look up to boss while venom shits all over him (making his hatred for him in MGS1 more believable/justified). make boss always compare eli to david to explain his resentment for solid.

that was the biggest let down for me, considering liquid is my fav mg character.

Why is Liquid your fav? He's only around for one game and even then he's not even that amazing to me aside from a catchphrase or two.

Solidus was easily the better written of the two, and actually has motivations that don't exactly put him on the "bad guy" side in such an easy light. Kinda did what Big Boss did, only to be cut down by his "son".

we can sit here and argue what it all really meant and how we're to interpret the game until we're blue in the face, but at the end of the day, the story had absolutely no tact or grace in delivering its message, no matter what it may be. that's what i have an issue with, not the actual direction of the story.

Like mentioned above, the ending doesn't bother me so much as Konami cutting the budget and content. Well that, along with Kojima taking the feedback from MGS4 so hard, that MGS V has almost no real cutscene exposition aside from a handful at best.

He couldn't find the happy medium like MGS 1/2/3? Seemed a healthy balance of gameplay and cutscenes to me.

i have a thing for the "cursed fate" characters of any series. liquid snake, ocean master new 52, etc.

Imagine being told your whole life that the only reason you exist is so that your twin brother can have the superior genes while you're stuck with the shitty inferior ones. And no matter what you do or how much you accomplish, you will never be able to measure up to him, because he was born to be better than you. That's the fate he thought he was cursed with.

All of this was wrong in the end of course, but still, that would get chocolate in anybody's peanut butter.

A blonde Brit who despised his dark-haired brother as well as his father, showed off his abs a lot, sought to control his own destiny and ruin his family's name, gathered a team of supreme badasses through his charisma, became a supernatural being, was apparently indestructible, escaped death by transplanting a body part onto somebody else, and continued to affect the story long after he was put down for good by having somebody else take up where he left off.

Perhaps Liquid wasn't directly inspired by Dio, but it's a hell of a coincidence nonetheless.
