Anyways, here are my thoughts. Just beat the game like 10 minutes ago so wait a bit for the full, coherent review.

This game fucking sucked.

I'm not trying to hate on the game, but goddamn, it is bad. Not over(under?)selling it, it's probably the worst Halo to date so far.

Fan-fiction story, poor voice acting, TERRIBLE dialogue, uninteresting and generic characters, and boring level design all just leave a taste of disgust and want for something a little more substantial.

Nothing even happens over the course of this game. It's like Spartan Ops -- go here, shoot this, listen to dialogue. Repeat. Blue team's missions were a bit better, but Osiris missions were GOD AWFUL.

Probably didn't help that, from what I've heard, the story was written by the guy who did Spartan Ops for 4. <.<

I mean, I wanted Spartan Ops Season 2...but not like this.

EDIT:  Fun Fact:  Spartan Thorne was supposed to be on Osiris, but 343 threw him into the trash bin for  Buck.

LOL THORNE IS STILL GETTING CHASED BY A LONE JACKAL IN THE COMICS

Wait really.

343 what are you doing

AND HE'S BLEEDING OUT FROM A SINGLE NEEDLE ROUND LODGED IN HIM

Why would the writer of SPARTAN OPS, NOT HALO 4, be the writer?

Good grief.

The writer for Halo 4, Chris Schlerf, left and now he's working on Mass Effect

"These Guardians can police an entire solar system"

Can't even kill a few Spartans

I fail to see how governing an entire solar system is even that big of a threat. Humanity at this point IIRC is spread across the galaxy. Ooh, you can destroy 25~ solar systems if we say no.

The Covenant had the Orion Arm. Humans had not even a percentage of that.

The galaxy is still mostly unexplored - so i'm sad she doesn't list any species we haven't seen yet in the last mission.

Also lol the yonhet got mentioned before the jiralhanae.

Meanwhile the Drones are still being ignored

And all the prophies fell into some dark galactic asshole.

Pretty much the entire surviving species* went extinct when the flood took over High Charity. There were only a couple thousand and they called the big mushroom their home. What few remain have took shelter with the Jiralhanae. So yeah, makes sense we don't really see 'em.

*not includong the Stoics, who stayed o Janjur Qom when the reformists left the planet. We have no idea what they've been doing for the past 3,000 years.

We had the stoics in a book last year. 343 has said before they have plans for the San 'Shyuum and even the Drinol/ Sharquoi (which have been mentioned once in a very obscure source)

We'll see them again. 343's just playing the long game with events. Remember they've got several years of content planned; on a three year dev cycle, that ends the third trilogy in 2027, presumably with the flood invasion.

With that much time to cover events, why do it all at once?

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
Dear God, they plan to drag this into a third trilogy?

They changed it from reclaimer trilogy to reclaimer saga so they wouldn't have the story constrained into 3 games. Plus they copyrighted Halo 7, Halo 8 and Halo 9 some time ago.

Going off the last mission, more than they do for the Jiralhanae.

Eh. I'd rather they pace the story properly instead of cramming it and overlooking a lot of stuff.

But at the same time, yeah. I'd honestly be perfectly happy if they just released the majority of story content in the expanded universe and do minimal/ drop the campaigns. Then they can release more books and do more with the story in the books.

And, as usual,I couldn't care less what they do with multiplayer. As long as the game has a campaign/some story content, I'll buy. Not if it's multiplayer only.

Iv'e been seeing speculation that Halo Wars 2 is the next game chronologically, since it's been said that  Spartan 4s will be in the game.

Halo 6:

Blue Team + Guilty Spark (no idea how they would meet up, but whatever) who eventually leads them to Mendicant and a fleet of ancient Forerunner vessels capable of standing a chance against the Guardians. Blue Team goes to a desolate Forerunner planet with a keyship, then to the Ark.

Osiris + Exuberant Witness on the teased Halo ring. Maybe before that traveling to the Brute home world Doisac to gain their support and take down a Chieftain. Well, that would pretty much be the Sangheili civil war all over again...

Arbiter rallies a fleet composed of other species as well as SoS. The fleet is used to buy Blue Team enough time to get the keyship through the portal on Earth and distract Cortana's Guardian. Imagine ex-Covenant ships defending Earth instead of attacking it? (For this to work I have to imagine there are some worlds that have not been affected by Guardians and still have functioning ships) Somewhere Halsey fits into all of this, and the Flood is released among the chaos.

Geez I expected WAYYYY more tension between Locke and Chief. All we got was one tense moment where they fought.

All those fucking ads where they both asked each other "was it worth it?". All that tension, and none of that shit happens. Geez the ads told a better story than the game.

And of course Locke is all buddy buddy with chief now, they can't develop that tension more because it's gone

Crazy tinfoil hat theory that probably won't make a lot of sense: The Gravemind has been in control/corrupted Cortana since the end of Halo 2. Everything you have been doing has been for his endgame. Crippling the Ark so it can't produce anymore Halos, defeating the one Forerunner general who could confront what's left of the Flood with an army of newly composed Prometheans, (yes, I know Mendicant is the one who led Chief to Requiem, but for what purpose then? Maybe he wanted Didact gone too, or to set the Librarian's plans in motion). Also "Cortana" leading you to Genesis is giving you a false sense of security and manipulating you until the Gravemind can lock you and Blue Team away because you are it's greatest threat. The Guardians are weakening worlds and leaving them ripe for infestation. Imagine a planet that's been totally EMP'd, and an army of Flood just landed from a plagued ship...

Gravemind may have been reforming on the Halo in the legendary ending and "Cortana" is breaking him out of containment. Maybe Gravemind in Halo 2 promised Cortana a cure for rampancy and unlimited knowledge: You will ask and I will answer. Okay, shoot. What if I told you it was possible to cure an AI from inevitable degradation? Unlimited knowledge... If they are not "one" then perhaps they are working together simultaneously.

It's a really far shot, but what if Gravemind knew that one way to reach the Domain was through the Mantle's Approach?

Imagine how you'd feel as Chief. If the Cortana we knew is completely gone, then you'd feel manipulated by the Gravemind and feel like a pawn in his galactic game all along while it was pretending to be someone you trusted.

If it is still the Cortana, then we'd not only feel betrayed by our friend, but she's working with the evil parasite you once tried to destroy. Does anyone at least think this is an interesting concept even if it'd have a lot of plot holes?

See you Cowgirl,
Someday, somewhere
Guys I found the plot to Halo 6

Arc 1: We destroy the Halo installation Cortana is on to prevent her from firing it

Arc 2: We fight of Cortana's invasion fleet of Earth and it turns out the flood has a new grave mind

Arc 3: We travel to the Greater Ark to prevent it from replacing the destroyed ring from earlier in the game. We also finally destroy Cortana
