Loosely. Over the years the nasty blows to the series really just bummed me out, and it's a spark I can't really seem to re-ignite anymore. I'm enjoying these embers while they last.

I'll probably check to see if 5 ends up being any good, but I doubt I'll buy a X1 for it.
Use to be a rabid fan, and buy all the books, but I guess series fatigue set in a couple years ago.

Pretty much in the same boat. After the writers changed 50 times for the books and styles got really lazy I stopped caring. The games are okay but the lore just feels like a cluster-fuck of people's ideas.

I gave up reading fiction but I still enjoy the games.  Nightfall might be good but I'd like to see them stop with live action and just pay Blur to make a full CGI one.  There budgets for live action seem low and the CGI interacting with people is just corny.  It'd look much better all CGI.

This leads me to believe that you rarely, if ever actually read. The Halo books are often very well done. Karen Traviss, while many didn't like her storylines, is actually a very respected author with much talent. Even the old books were done by authors who have been writing respected Sci-Fi literature for years. Dietz not being the least of them, right next to Zahn. Of course, if you're an ill-informed consumer, I can see how you might say The Bearenstein Bears novels are superior, I won't begrudge you that,  even simple people need books that are on their level to enjoy.

Most people read the lore because it is genuinely interesting not because Halo 4 is a broken game without it. Gamers are just looking for a reason to tear down the strange and new, Halo 4 was that game for the true-blue Halo fanboys. And now it will be Halo 5.

MCC is definitely the defining factor on whether or not I continue my long devotion to the Halo Franchise.

343 dealt a devestating blow with Halo 4, but with everything in the MCC it seems that 343 is finally respecting the roots of Halo instead of desperately trying to deviate from it.

If some of this same genuine respect survives into Halo 5, I'll definitely look at them differently.
