does this stuff even work?
flashy spins> boring stick poking.
So you prefer to see 2 guys dancing with each other rather than seeing 2 people actually fighting?

but they are fighting. and it looks cooler.

i really dislike how people use variations of this gif to undermine the fight and "flashiness" of the fight. like....a second later the sword come in and collide and they lock up.
I personally wasn't trying to undermine anything actually, I just used it as an excuse to post the gif. I never really had a problem with the prequels actually.

oh. in that case. cool memes bro. ;O

If it doesn't look cool, it doesn't look cool. This can affect how much you care about the outcome.

There is no tension at all in the duel in Episode IV, because the choreography is so laughably godawful, that it takes you out of the movie.

The duel between Obi Wan and Vader in A New Hope had no choreography because it was a new movie and the guys had no idea how Jedis/Siths were actually suppose to fight because it was something new to them.

yea. people are always like "but but the story" when in fact there was little said during and before the fight to have any sort of meaning int he fight.

and on a random side note. why do people complain about how the fights in the prequles had no emotions because...

1) yes they did.
2) ffs its a fight. theres no need to spill out emotions. the darth maul fight is a great example. it would be super gay is darth maul starting talking about his life problems before the attempt of his assassinations.

Okay, but it still resulted in a boring scene that is bereft of any sense of peril.

Verb has a point, however I think the duel between Vader and Luke in ep 5 is good, and in episode 6 it's fantastic. It wasn't pretty, it was angry. It captured his anger, frustration, desperation.

I'd like to reference this video. Never mind the voice or him picking apart every single part of the prequels, I just bring this bit up because he can say it better than I can, and it's better than just reading paragraphs.

While I do slightly disagree with his episode 4 thing, I do think he has a good point. It's exactly why the duel between Rey and Kylo Ren at the end of episode 7 actually meant something. She took her lightsaber, she was embracing her path, and then during the fight she's actually facing confliction and fear.

I thought it was pretty good. Pacing is weird, could be they made him cut a lot of scenes.

There was originally going to be a subplot involving the senate and those planets that got destroyed by Starkiller base. That part got axed, as well as a few other scenes where pumpkin Yoda lady uses the force to crush some stormtroopers and Kylo Ren finding the Millennium Falcon
