They need to garner SOME sort of audience. That show is probably the only reason people still tune into that channel.

Why would be watching american programs on bbc america which is broadcast in america and not in britain? isn't the whole point to broadcast british shows in the us, hence the topic in the OP?

BBCA isn't there for brits in america.
