Layne Staley, vocalist for Alice in Chains

YouTube

i'm actually gonna cheat and go with this, which is actually his second last song

the real last song he ever released was called Died--which isn't a bad track--but i consider Get Born Again to be much more poignant, and i think it fittingly serves not only as a swan song for layne, but perhaps the grunge genre as a whole

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
Nick Drake. A sad story, I'm afraid.

Never made many albums, nor made much money or fame in his life, and suffered from schizophrenic depression.

But his music is a delight to listen to, last one he released was From the Morning, on Pink Moon (1972). The last recorded song he did was Black Eyed Dog a few months before his death, a reference to his failing mental health (Wikipedia has it if you want a listen, it's only 20 seconds long).

He overdosed on anti-depressants in Autumn of 1974, aged 26.

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
I was going to say CoMa but apparently shes fine, if a random comment is to be believed. She just vanished a year or two ago deleting most of the music she posted in her soundcloud. Here's her last song anyway.

20 minutes of ethereal vocals and ambience.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
After clicking the thread I realized you meant musical, but Marcel Duchamp came to mind when I saw the title. So, whatever.

The funny part is that he had told the world years prior that he was quitting art to become a chess master. They found the painting behind a false door in his home after he died. The best kind of loon imo.

Nah, I was vague on purpose to include all forms of art; I just chose a musician.

Also, that's pretty cool. Speaking of chess, I'm starting to get into it myself. Do you play at all?

Not really. I've tried getting into it a few times before, but I don't enjoy it enough to put forth the effort to become good at it.

That's a shame. I find it exhilarating when a plan I've constructed falls into place, or when my opponent stupidly falls into one of my traps. It's almost like the perfectly-balanced fighting game I always wanted.

you probably prefer shogi, don't you

Can't say I haven't thought about it, but no. I tend to play a lot of solitaire in my down-time. It's quick and I can play without another person.
