Why have there been no good horror movies in the last 83 years?

Since the pagan holiday of halloween is coming up, which somehow devolved into another valentines day, lets talk about the lack of any good horror movies.

I'm not even being pedantic when I'm honestly saying the Mummy (1932) was the last EVEN REMOTELY deecent horror film made. Seriously, why is this? Will this genre have a revival anytime soon?

It goes roughly like this :

Cinematiqué : the peak of cinemá, french arthouse films from the 1920's must be silent, it's a visual medium.

Kino : Elder god Tier (Think of Empire)

Film : High quality film, Seventh Seal, Eraserhead black and white, respectable

Movie : Plebian garbage

Flicks : What most people watch, Avengers, Pixar, Disney etc.

If a piece of cinema is good enough, we refer to it as a 'film', if it's simply your standard hollywood seat-filler, we say 'movie'.

The Babadook was good.

I have to agree. Star Wars was designed to be a flick. It's a literal call back to the 1930's and 40's adventure serials.

Not sure, I do not watch horror but there may be some good ones. Some good horror games have also come out in the past couple years.

I don't watch horror films much, but they look like they all follow the same formula. A few jump scares here and there, characters that don't do anything real people would do so they get in situations, some banging, etc.
