Why do you fear death?

I despise all cultures barring of a few, so I suppose you could say I am racist because of that but I don't hate individuals for their culture, just their cultures themselves because they disgust me.

I look forward to my death, actually. There is nothing to fear.

It will be something like a permanent, sleepless dream, I imagine.It's only scary because the brain is poor at comprehending non-existence and we fear the unknown.

And who knows, maybe, with the passage of time you will blink into existence again as another being.

I've had considerable time to ponder this after Panic Attacks that have started happening to me this year.

For me it seems to come down to the question of "What will happen to my state of Consciousness when I die?" which gets my mind towards a worried state. Then the possibility of me not accomplishing (or even attempting) the shit I want to do before I die makes things worse, on top of the possibility that my Death will be extremely unpleasant to experience.

I know it's stupid and illogical to fear something, but sometimes I just can't stop myself man

I fear death. I fear death because for all I know it is the end of my existence and seeing as my existence is all I have it's a pretty important thing to lose. Also I fear what will happen with my family and the people I care about if I were to pass.

However I'm at peace with what happens after death personally, after death my body will be returned to where it came and will become one with the Universe. There's some kind of peace in that for me.

Our time in this world is short, so we have to make the best we can of it; when I finally have to step aside and let the world go on without me, I want to have left something behind in my place, something that persists even if only for a little while. It's comforting to know that as long as living creatures have existed, they've all had to go through the same thing, and when I'm gone the world will keep existing.

Also I wouldn't mind having a chat with Riemann, Euler, Hilbert, and Gauss in the afterlife, maybe I'll have a great theorem to show them by then.

it's not about being "hard"

it's about the simple realization that death is the cessation of literally everything that i hate--and that's comforting

Like I said, you don't have a choice in the matter. Humans are evolutionarily hardwired to fear dying. You can feel comfort now by seeing it as an end to the stresses of life, but you can't shut out the physiological response of it.

You may or may not like it if you had it, however. Depending on the circumstances, at least.

But, we can add to that little original statement because not every person is wired identically. You can get folks who exist outside of norms for the bulk population. Hence why we get so many variations of people.
