When it comes to single player games not everyone has the energy or will to play through them themselves so they might watch someone else do it, the commentary bit comes in here as well.

I think that's a more in the vain of why people watch MLG, not why people watch Let's Plays.

You know, because of the competition and people supporting different people and the ecstasy of seeing who you support succeed at something you also enjoy, at this expense of someone you don't like being shit at it.

Without the competition you're just watching training camp, and your average fan doesn't do that.
