I shop almost exclusively at factory outlets.
I own $70 sweaters, $500 suits, $80 pairs of pants, all which I got for around 90% or more off.

I'm repulsed when I find out people actually pay department store prices, and even moreso when I find out that people bought cheap shit instead, and actually paid more than I did for my nice things.

Also pacsun is gross.

Yeah I'm not understanding if he got a $500 suit for 90% off or if it was $500 at 90% off. I can believe a sweater or a shirt at 90% off but a $500 suit for $50 is bullshit. Unless the store was shutting down or something.

The average hourly wage of factory workers in China is around $1. You can't live on that here, but in China you can. I don't consider it unethical at all to patronize companies that export labor to China since they provide millions of jobs. The issue is in how those workers are treated; I often buy more expensive brands simply because I've researched them and know how they treat their foreign employees. Dirt-cheap brands are more likely to have abusive working conditions because of how marginal their profits are, needing to cut costs wherever possible.

Or you can buy domestic products, which tend to be double the price. My everyday boots are American-made, my usual jacket is made from a very reputable company that uses Chinese laborers. I can tell you the exact cost of labor put into it, too. I'm not sure if you really meant to spark a discussion, but you're definitely able to be aware of where your products come from and whether it's it's ethically sourced.

You're saying expensive clothing is all made of superior materials when it's blatantly untrue.

The majority of designer clothing is FAR better quality than what you will find in a mall. Now, that isn't to say that there is a huge difference between a $40 t shirt and a $500 one. There isn't a big enough difference to in any way justify the price for me. But keep in mind, construction quality is every bit as important as the fabric itself. You can use high quality shit, but if its made by some dude in China it will fall apart.
