Let me guess... you don't understand why people like firearms?
Yea.
Why do you like hockey?
I started playing it when I was 3 and have grown up watching it and playing it.
It's a sport that I both enjoy watching and participating in.
And best of all I'm not shooting a lethal weapon. :^)
And shooting a lethal weapons is bad how? Not like gun ranges have people tied up and you fire at them. Just like with every hobby, it's about enjoyment, making friends, developing a skill, and just having fun
While having weapons that could kill dozens of people in seconds at your fingertips.
There's a difference between a hobby that you try to get an object in a net and a hobby where you could kill many people with any inclination to do so.
I would be surprised if you could kill dozens of people in seconds with a semi automatic rife.
With enough people lined up I'm sure it could be done.
They would have to be standing still and in a straight line I suppose, but the same thing can be said about cars or planes.
Not literally line up. But having a lot of people in one area.

There's some 19th century breech lock that I don't know a whole lot about hanging on my grandfather's wall. I do know it's still fireable though.

Sharps? Is it a Sharps? How about a Sharps? Maybe a Sharps? I bet it's a Sharps. Is it a Sharps?

God, I want a 45-70 Sharps Carbine.

Lets take into consideration that you'd have a semi automatic rifle
The rpm is not enough to accurately hit and kill dozens within seconds
The people would immediently scatter making them difficult to school
Police or other people with guns would kill you in seconds
You're not a super shot, you won't be shooting everyone in the head

You greatly over estimate shooter ability and the power of a chosen bullet. 5.56, the round everyone was panicked about, is a .22 caliber projectile that weighs about 55 grains. 5.56 is incredibly light. It's parent cartridge, .223 Remington is considered barely adequate for deer and is generally used for varmint hunting. Animals such as Prairie dogs, rabbits, and Coyotes. The reason the military adopted it was for it's ballistic properties in holding a reasonable trajectory at 300 yards as well as how light of a cartridge it is.

Now in a perfect storm where a shooter has a bunch of people in easy shot, you still probably could not kill the dozens in seconds you claimed. Considering non-lethal wounds and misses, also considering that standard capacity magazines are 30 rounds, dozens killed without a reload would be difficult to your average sperglord mass murderer. This is all assuming of course that the people have not fled at the first sound of a gunshot, and there isn't anyone carrying their own in the crowd.

As it should. 90% of people who buy guns use them either to hunt, or to tuck under their pillow for safety and never actually use them.

Aviation manufacturers put thousands of lives at risk with every unit they make. It only makes sense that they should be under greater scrunity.

Yeah, but when you have to bill 10 bucks for a bolt, 2,500 for a second-hand leading edge,  or 85,000 for a 200hp flat 6 engine with a 5,000 automotive equivalent to cover a company's liability insurance because of what some lawyers tried to do in the 60's things should definitely get questioned...

What if the FAA didn't exist? How many aircraft companies or airlines would be in operation with shit-tacular safety standards? Probably not many if any at all.

Remember, people tend to vote with wallets. I sure as shit would not get on a disreputable airline.

The FAA is pretty shitty when it comes to stifling innovation. They literally just fucked over companies who were producing 'drones' for the consumer market.

Come to think of it, I don't think there is an Alphabet soup agency I actually like.
FAA shits on aviation innovation
CIA are spoopy scary skelingtons (though SAD is pretty operator)
FBI is pretty incompetent
ATF is incredibly incompetent and shoots dogs
IRS takes muh monies

Maybe the Secret Service? I mean, they deal with Counterfeit shit, and I like my money not being devalued. But at the same time, South American hookers...

Id you're going to get a Lee Enfield, get an Ishapore variant chambered in .308. That way you won't have to pour all your money into ammo for it or reload your own shell.s
