The number one reason given on why someone needs a gun is for home defense. Yet, the odds that your house would be broken into are really low. They are even lower still that you would be home at all during the robbery. So, why the fear? Now, I'm all for gun ownership. If I didn't have the kids, and had the money, I would likely own a few for sport shooting. I just don't see the need to have one to defend my home. Now, before you bring up the insurance analogy, remember odds almost everyone gets into at least two accidents (from a fender bender to a catastrophic collision) in their life. According to the Bureau of Justice it's under 2.9% and dropping. And that's if your home is broken into at all. It's significantly lower if you are home.
It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
Everyone wants a tacitcool kitted out AR in 300 Blackout to DEFEND THEIR HOME with, and I'm just sitting here like "I just want to plink at cans" with a pallet of surplus 5.56 because it's fun...
