I probably missed your point Verb but it did make me realize on reflection that I lived a life differently than well over 90% of people here.

Probably the only common thing we share is that we've computers to talk over long distances.

Can't really. Depends entirely on the context

E.g.Mobility scooters can be used by anyone. If I decided to only use them to get around because I didn't feel like walking, I'd be lazy. If someone with a disability used them to get around because he couldn't leave the house otherwise, it'd be a convenience.

A TV remote for a mounted up high tv in a pub would be convenient because it wouldn't interrupt the barman's work getting a step ladder to change channels or volume. If it's  to change a channel when you're practically licking the screen, that's lazy. And bad for your eyes.

Lazy is to avoid doing something you'd consider hard or boring because you just don't want to do it.

Convenient is about being effective and to avoid things being unnecessarily complicated.

Putting a ready meal in the microwave is lazy, cooking a large batch of food and freezing it to be microwaved later is convenient.

Their efficiency is laziness.
