Seriously, look into joining a fraternity. Don't listen to any of these NEETs who have no idea what they're talking about, and the extent of their knowledge of fraternities comes from bad publicity of some bad apples. You're attending UF, right? I'm 100% certain that they have a fraternity for guys just like you, and there are plenty others filled with cool people. Even participating in Rush Week and showing up to the events is better than not trying it out at all.

That's a very jaded way to look at it. Sure you can make plenty of friends without being in a fraternity, I did it all last year just fine, but I also missed out on a lot of fun shit that some of my good friends were able to experience because they were all in the process of joining.

Completely understandable, it really is a big time commitment and I'm not sure if I'll be able to work and fraternize at the same time, but I'm going to try to figure it out. If a frat isn't your thing then your next best choice would be a club, imo.

I'm going to be in the same boat as you in a couple of weeks. One of my friends is going to be there doing his second year, but other than that, I won't know anyone.

The big thing that has me worried is my student loan. I'm probably going to need an extension to get my fees in and if I don't get my loan I'm going to be shit out of luck. My degree is going to cost me about 15k or more a year.

Also, keep in touch with everybody through texting, social media, etc. And if you are as sociable as you say, then joining a club and making a shit ton of friends will be very easy for you.
