I'm not really versed well enough in the horror genre to give it my definite approval, but some of it's good. I'm a fan of more traditional horror/thrillers because it's got a larger focus on tension than what we have today, which just builds up atmosphere for a silly jump scare you saw coming minutes before.

I don't get that theory, personally, but there have been some films in the "horror" genre that I have enjoyed.

I don't scare easily, either, is the thing. Just the idea of scaring yourself for entertainment seems kinda dumb to me.

If I watch a horror movie, it'll be for the psychological aspects and deeper themes. If there are any.

I like 'em because, when they're done right, it's fantastic. Having the ability to twist and manipulate people's emotions by simply moving the camera around, or reading a line, is amazing. I really respect it.

That being said, the genre is awfully cluttered with shit you don't need to watch for any reason.
