Depends if Santa is in or not
Quote from: Carsonogen on September 21, 2015, 08:45:00 PMDepends if Santa is in or notAh, the ol' 'let society tell me how to raise my child' approach. I dig it.
my parents never let me or my brothers believe in any of that shit, and i'll be doing the same with my kids. gotta make sure they appreciate what their parents do for them by spending lots of money on gifts every year, instead of thanking some imaginary old fat guy who sneaks into people's homes through their basement and eats their cookies.
incentive to behave.
Say that Santa exists because I much rather they retain their innocence than get the appreciation from themI'm not a doucheI can handle not getting attention from childrenBecause that is what needs to happen Because sometimes, the truth isn't good enough Sometimes, people deserve moreSometimes, people deserve to have their faith rewarded

i'd let them figure it out on their own.. I remember my brother and I fueling the fireplace at 4 in the morning on Christmas eve in an attempt to kill santa if he was real. When he didn't show up I felt accomplished.

Quote from: XSEAN on September 21, 2015, 08:55:05 PMmhmmm I don't know OP lying to my kid not appealing neither It's not, but I think all but the most liberal parents would say parenting has a large degree of censorship and lying, basically. You'll tell them Disney princes and The Avengers are real, at least for a while. You'll probably tell them they can accomplish anything, too. That's a lie too. You won't play graphic media around them and you'll avoid swearing. That's also a lie, in a way.
It's possible to enjoy the Christmas season without Santa. It just is. I don't really like the idea of lying to my kids, for any reason whatsoever. I remember absolutely resenting my parents when I discovered the truth. That said, if my partner so happens to disagree with my outlook, I can grit my teeth and put up with lying to my kid.But I won't like it.
