Rewatching Sense8, limiting myself to only one episode per day. The urge to binge is strong, but it's better to space it out since so much happens in a single episode. Good show if you don't mind nudity and telepathic orgies. Still upset that Netflix cancelled it.

That was a shame. It got the farscape and firefly treatment of having to have the remaining seasons or ideas crammed into a sendoff that couldn't possibly tie off all the loose ends.

You seem to be the resident mass media consumer here. By any chance have you ever watched the first season of true detective? That shit seems like it'd be right up your alley.

so i've been told, but i've yet to actually watch it

as much media as i do consume, TV shows probably represent the biggest lacuna in my wheelhouse

given how many people have recommended this one to me, though, i guess i have no choice but to check it out

It's actually pretty cut and dry as far as a TV show plot goes, a dark toned buddy cop murder mystery, but the attention to detail and the writing in general for just plain up everything within the first season, and even the ones that come after(even though they couldn't outdo the first season) is pretty special. It also has heavy doses of philosophical nihilism strewn about it, which especially seems up your alley.

I just finished watching Kung Pow last night.

I also watched a few episodes of DBZ Kai over the last week or so, but I'm not really engaged in it.

Who was the fool that threw the basket in the pool?
I watched Night of the Hunter again, today. Such a thrill, so many rich characters, and a favorite of favorites; with an actress who shares a 1/2 spot at the tippy-top of my personal list for best actors. Lillian Gish bears proof once again that you can have a capable, strong heroine without stripping her of her femininity in the slightest. I wish my own mother loved me so much.

i started a new anime called magical girl site

uhh it's a thing thats for sure

Spoiler
it has abuse, murder, rape and suicide attempts, etc

its gimmick is essentially the fairly god parents, an unfortunate girl gets power, can use it get revenge but she oddly switches from a depressed girl to an optimistic one, and she pairs up with another magical girl to try and fight the "system"

ive been wanting to watch it for a while, prolly just outta morbid curiosity

Not going to lie, Rust reminded me of Verbatim a bit, at least back when he was more volatile. I'm just going to assume that current Verbatim is the same one from old Bungie. He seems simmered down a bit.

I think my account name was just an amalgamation of mixed numbers and letters. Never commented either, just lurked. Essentially I'm nobody of note. Sorry if you were expecting a long last face to re-emerge.

sounds like creepy pedo shit
seems par for the course, going off your current avatar

no offence

it's definitely tryna be creepy

the magical girl genre has toyed with the idea of "oh wait, everythings not as it seems!!1!" but this one might be pushing it

there isnt any real pedo stuff, i mean unless youre into seeing girls suffering

Finished Universal Century gundam, with the "grand" finale being the abominable "Gundam Narrative." Shame we ended on such a low note, but for the most part I really enjoy the U.C. series.

Now I'm watching the German series "Dark" with my friend. I'm learning German, so he figured it's a win/win as it's a good show and it would help me with my studies.

and so about 24 hours later, i finished magical girl site

some basic thoughts if you care

overall feelings were mixed. i think it got a little carried away with being dark, as some other magical girl anime try to hide it. that can be argued against, though

the girls were okay i guess, the 2nd half of the season introduced like 5 new girls but didnt really have much time to shine. the main girl, aya asagiri, was depressed but slowly gained confidence thru her first friend,  yatsumura-san (which i cant even remember her first name... tsuyomo?). and i mean verrry slowly & by the end it barely feels like she changed. oh but at least she doesnt have to suffer anymore. the shock stuff i mentioned in my previous spoiler was only for the first few episodes

the finale was troubling, i feel like many plot lines were just thrown to the side, even the MAIN plotline. basically, in the near future there will be a storm that wipes out most of the human population, save for those with wicked amounts of negative emotions, as the “king” feeds off it. doesnt make sense? dont worry i barely understood it

the finale ended w/ the girls rebelling against the “administrators” of the titular site, which is great and all, but what will it mean in the long run, you know?

this anime is fairly new, airing in 2018, so maybe there will be sequel sometime. maybe they were aiming for this to be resolved in the 2nd season. if not, then it ended very horribly (it’s based off a manga which probably has the resolution, but i dont usually read manga)

i guess thats a long enough break, it’s time resume naruto

Watched Ad Astra and 1917 last week. Loved every second of them both.

My local cinema was gonna be showing Interstellar this week but then my region went back into lockdown so thats on hold now. Hoping it's still gonna play when it reopens because Interstellar is genuinely one of my favourite films and I wish I could have seen it in cinema.

Still fucking amazing. I highly recommend it.
It's on UK Netflix, not sure about other places tho.

The last film I saw in theatres was a war film from the Byelorussian SSR called Come and See (1985). I went all the way to SF to see it because it had a recent remaster and was being shown again in the US since I think 1987. I had to go because it's an all-time favorite of mine (no. 2 behind Once Upon a Time in America). I'm glad I got the opportunity to go before quarantine.

Signature goes here.
Easily my favorite, Nausicaa is a close second but it leaves you wanting more that isn't there whereas Princess Mononoke has a satisfactory conclusion to everything in its story. Nausicaa did get a 10-minute live action prequel though so it does seem to be more popular.

Doing a full-on Fresh Prince of Bel Air binge on Netflix.

Kinda sad about the stories they have about black folk being pulled over for little reason or black history month and the episodes are nearly 30 years old, but that's a criticism of reality rather than an awesome show.

Edited for clarity, kinda made it sound like those issues are the show's problem...
