Be as specific as you want.

When it comes to games:

Gameplay > Characters (if it's a fighting game) > A sense of "soul," or an appreciation for "the little things"

[POWER GAP]

Themes, ideas, & messages > Overall design > Originality > Style, aesthetic, & atmosphere > Price

[POWER GAP]

Challenge > Heuristic gameplay (no hand-holding tutorials) > Music > Story > How female characters are portrayed

[POWER GAP]

Genre > Characters (non-fighting games) > Replay value > Controls > Lore > Animation > Acting

[POWER GAP]

For bad games, a capacity to be enjoyable despite being a bad game

[POWER GAP]

Setting/world = Customization = Graphics = Frame rate = Boring technical aspects = Historical accuracy = Premise

For movies:

Themes, ideas, messages > Symbolism > Imagery & cinematography > A sense of "soul," attention to detail

[POWER GAP]

Editing > Rewatchability > Usage of tropes & cliches

[POWER GAP]

Characters > Story > Score > Acting > Setting/world > Genre > Historical accuracy > Premise

[POWER GAP]

A capacity for bad movies to be so-bad-it's-good

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
Characters most of all, movies and games.

How much "soul" is in the game/movie/art. Things like attention to detail and consistency among the themes. Also, how true the product is to what the creator wanted.

Media is not the sum of its parts, and just because a piece checks all the boxes you want checked doesn't mean its what you were looking for.

So no, when you look for things certain things in soomething, you're not experiencing something, you're just dissecting it.

And that is the correct way to analyze and appreciate art.

And you're actually doing both, but the important part is the dissection of what made the experience work.

It's an atrocity against art.

Poets have waged war against such practices for decades.

And the specific thing that makes an experience work shouldn't be defined, because part of the appreciation is just knowing, internally, that something speaks to you.

Finding it's mouth degrades that feeling.

There's a reason an artist can never appreciate their own work.

If you feel like you can, you probably weren't smart enough to even understand someone else's art.

If you know all the parts of something intimately, you can't love it.

This isn't complicated, in fact it's just the opposite.

Pure and blissful simplicity.

This is the opposite of the truth.

The more intimately I know every detail of any work of art that I enjoy, I just love it even more.

This is why things like acting became extremely unimportant, because they're surface level.

You are autistic.

That's not a slight.
You're actually autistic.

This actually explains everything.

You don't understand chance, art, or work, and it all stems from this fundamental fact that you, because of autism, cannot appreciate the romance of beauty that is fleeting. The raw energy of mystery. Wonderment in it's simplest form.

To know is never enough.
Man yearns to ask and to wonder.

For all media: A story that draws me in, as well as an interesting setting.

In games specifically: A high skill gap, and replay-ability.

Because of the autism.

fuck you
Games it depends, like for a shooter it would be
Gameplay > Characters > Lore > graphics
Because it's just about how it plays I guess.
But for fighters
Controls > characters > gameplay (controls?) > lore

I like great gameplay, if the game has a shit story but it's just fun to play, I'll generally stick around. Other way around is a little more rare. For big games
Story > characters > world > gameplay > graphics

The major factor for me are the games that don't hold your hand, I love them. Challenging games.

For movies I've got no clue

Story/writing > characters > Message
I guess
