... and satanic imagery? So many synthwave album covers involve it in some fashion, and I don't know why. My only guess is that it's because a lot of late 70's and 80's horror movies had synthesizer soundtracks.

Not necessarily in terms of lyrics, but definitely in regards to some album covers.
