What does feminism mean to you?

To be honest, it means little more to me than equal pay (on their behalf) and freedom of thought and lifestyle (on all of our behalf's) within a humanist perspective.. it's a very western ideal though, and western legitimacy is by no means guaranteed or even justified, given our expanded world (universe-spanning) view.

Any culture on Earth could/may eventually provide for the continued survival of our species, which is- honestly- all I care about, within reason. I wouldn't want us to expand too far into the galaxy with our extant animality intact.

But I ramble. Title for reference.

The belief that women are equal to men and deserve equal societal amenities.
I don't identify the concept of feminism with radicalism, however. I think radicalism only establishes stereotypes about the movement and ultimately hinders progression.

i had this friend who i hung out with when i was in elementary school, but we separated all throughout middle and high school

we ended up going to the same university, however, and to my surprise, she actually came up to me the other day to chat and bridge the eight year gap between us, and it was pretty nice

then i found out that she became a republican feminist

As an ideal, one that I don't object to. Equality for humanity is a very important and simple goal to strive for. Implementing it is less so, but it's still something to work for.

In historical practice, it started off on the wrong hoof for me with that idiotic beeyatch killing the king's horse (and thankfully herself in the process) for 'muh banner' That's a darwin award I think, walking out onto a horse race track to try and tackle a speeding equine. GG. Then the whole terrorism deal they had going for a while didn't endear them much either. It was the suffragists that I respected not the hysterical morons that got the limelight <.<

In more recent history, I have no objections to it. They were the ones who did all of the hard work making the world more equal for women so since that aligns nicely with a humanist perspective I support this.

For the present day, it's split down the middle. You have those who are continuing the work of those^ just above. And you have the tumblrites. People like Malala are more than deserving of respect for their work, but the rabid dogs on the internet that stream forth torrents of QQ and abuse to everyone in the name of supposed equality sicken me. It's a double problem because in response to all this nonsense you have cringeworthy things like MRAs spawning forth from reddit to counter the SJW/Feminazis.

The endless persecution complexes spawned for both sides are tiresome in the extreme.

So nowadays, I just really don't give two shits. I wouldn't call myself a feminist, equalist/humanist is a better term and I don't really give a shit about the origins of it <.<
