Me: I'm religious so I believe in the afterlife and the Kingdom of heaven. Up there are all your dead friends,relatives and pet...

I can't say for sure what will happen but my idea of death is the final and ultimate dissolution of the ego to the point that it no longer arises within conscious experience. Consciousness, on the other hand, I see as some fundamental aspect of being that supersedes the ego and all sensed, perceived, and conceived phenomena. Even time itself.

Since my consciousness isn't capable of thinking/feeling/experiencing when I'm dead, from my POV I will never be dead, so I don't have to worry about it.

God isn't real, though. Heaven and Hell aren't actual places. Snape kills Dumbledore.

I'll cease to function.

After the initial pain and fear from whatever kills me, I won't see, smell, hear or feel anything. Sounds bad, but considering I won't be thinking much after death, it ain't terrible.

I won't be going anywhere other than 6ft in the ground, until I breakdown and get dispersed across several km's until eventually I get recycled in the mantle, or I get petrified and go on display as some ancient ancestor in a museum.

i realize that, according to what i believe happens, you don't feeling anything, period--but me, sitting here right now, contemplating that idea from the outside, it seems wonderful to me

you die and then whatever you believe will happen happens.

So if you believe you just die you just die
if you believe you will go to heaven you go to heaven
if you believe that everyone is going to burn in hell then you will go to hell
if you believe you will be reincarnated you will be reincarnated
If you believe that you will fly through space and time infinitely then you will do so.

I think the human brain is powerful enough to make this happen.
