His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.

Is there a difference between the two?

And social media has the most control. Liberals and conservatives alike spread stories about the other side with questionable ties to reality.

Entertainment media masquerading as news.
Nothing really does that. No source that identifies as "news" is entertaining to anyone but news savants.

News masqurading as entertainment media, on the other hand...

The rise of ESPN-style newsrooms on networks such as FOX and CNN would disagree. The goal isn't to inform anymore, it's to get your heart racing.

Is there a difference between the two?
Yes? One is where you get biased facts that make you feel better about your beliefs, the other is where you get entertainment/deep thought.

And social media has the most control.
I can agree with this. The majority of Americans watch primetime TV for at least an hour every night, but the vast, vast majority use social media. Only exception would be the elderly, who consume entertainment media (crime procedurals in particular) and the news way more than they use social media. But they don't drive an iota of change compared to the active generations, so it's a moot contrast.

That could be considered entertainment in the news (which only makes sense - news shows, like all programs, are designed solely to capture viewers), but I wouldn't say employing those diversions recategories the entire show into an entertainment medium.

Maybe, but it's immoral to make the suffering of real people about you / beneficial to you.

Hence why the news is terrible and entertainment media (not just television; any story at all) is awesome. You can watch people succeed, suffer, die, win, and lose without anyone actually getting hurt.

CNN owner Zucker has outright stated that "the idea of politics as sports is undeniable ... and we approached it that way", and doesn't consider his pro-Trump panelists to be spokespeople for a world view, but instead "characters in a drama".

It is literally just a drama based on current events.

That's his opinion, and that's great. But adding a little entertainment to a news show doesn't morph the genre into something else.

If the entertainment aspects took over the network and the majority of air time was devoted to those ESPN-esque segments, then sure. But from what you've said, that doesn't seem to be the case.

You can watch people succeed, suffer, die, win, and lose without anyone actually getting hurt.

Key difference is that while a show like Breaking Bad might employ violence to further the plot/characters, it's never glorified or glamorized. The violence is always presented in a negative light.

Your avatar straight up romanticized graphic violence against the president. Apples and oranges.

i mean i explained rather plainly how it didn't, and nobody disagreed but you

the only reason i don't have the avatar now isn't because my avatar broke the rules (which is why i wasn't banned or warned), but because cheat decided that it was time to put harsher restrictions on avatars anyway

...no?

"might makes right" is probably the dumbest aphorism in the entire book, and it has nothing to do with what i said

the argument that you THINK i'm making is actually an argumentum ad populum, appeal to majority

but i'm not arguing from that, i'm simply pointing out that the majority of people disagree with you

wrong

might makes right is the principle that the physically strong have moral precedence over the weak

something i vehemently disagree with

the not-pretentious way to say "argumentum ad populum" is "appeal to majority"

might makes right is a completely separate thing, because it states that one physically strong man has moral priority over a hundred physically WEAK men, just because they cannot defend themselves against the stronger man

And you literally just made that argument lmao, "pointing out" something is making an argument.
no, it isn't

if i point out that your fly is down, i'm not making an argument, i'm pointing it out to embarrass you

Actually, might makes right refers to the idea that if I can dominate you physically, I also dominate you ideologically. It can be applied on a national, social, or individual scale.

But words and phrases, you know, evolve, and it's apt and clever to use it as "if I can dominate you by majority opinion, I also dominate you ideologically."

You're making a point, which is a board of an argument.

Argument [2]: a reason or set of reasons given with the aim of persuading others that an action or idea is right or wrong.

The argument "your fly is down" is trying to either a) persuade others that the action of pulling it up is right, if you're trying to help; or b) persuade others that the idea that it's down is embarassing, if you're not.

There's a reason why statements in coding are called "arguments".

Quote
