There were a lot of days that I made less than minimum wage as a server, and days where I made $15 an hour doing it. The former were much more often than the latter.Point is, tips are legitimately the income of servers. If you give away your tips, you just made $12 on a twelve hour shift.

It's a shit system, but not agreeing with it doesn't change the fact that those people are making like $3/hr without it.
If you can't afford to tip in the US then you can't afford to eat out. Until the minimum wage for service jobs is raised or tip restaurants start following the lead of the no tip ones then you should continue to tip. It's shit, but it's the system we're stuck with for the time being.
