What's been the biggest struggle of your life?

Being blind in one eye for 14 years was a little hard on me. The divorce was a challenge for the family.
But I can say I've overcame them all.
What do you struggle with? Have you let it define you?

I could list what I think would be large struggles. No doubt, they were. Miscellaneous diseases and bodily issues. Even what I'm dealing with right now is starting to get to me. Less oxygen in my blood means everything takes a little bit more effort. Blood cells not reproducing properly means I'm brusing and bleeding easily and it's not healing. It's taxing.

But it's just physical. I'm used to bumps and scrapes when it comes to physical. I've got a body that's A okay with working. Once I get moving, I don't feel it anymore. No aches, no pains, no bothers.

But the biggest one, and always has been, what's in my head. The point of bothering to try and continue on when I have almost, almost nothing to go on for, really. It's been there so long, I've been coasting so long in this state that it's worked itself so deep.

No matter how much effort I put in to trying, I don't see it. It never seems to click. I can't seem to find that light at the end of the tunnel. And it's been so long without it that I don't really see the point of looking for it. I try anyway. Maybe I'll stumble on it through being stubborn about it.

The worst about it though, is that it's not an outside influence. It's not some force or random act. It's just little old me, plain and simple.

Probably the move here from b.net, it exposed me to a hitherto-unknown cyst of jealousy and venom that had been built up without my notice. While their group is still a vocal minority, we still don't have enough posters or elements of the original flood from which we all migrated for there to be any serious opposition to them. My friends here keep quiet because they don't want to fuck with the most vocal and aggressive group here, and I hope and wait for the day when the tables can be turned and equilibrium restored.

Probably keeping a consistent amount of motivation.

When I was younger, dealing with being very small. Thats pretty much out of the way now, though.

It seemed such an open question so I wrote the first thing that popped into my head. Remembering Pandajerk.. remembering the old b.net scene always causes me to review what I'm doing here. I realised what kind of replies and from whom they would be drawn shortly after I posted it

(even you know I'm among the most social here, great question lol) so I'll probably just scoot away from this thread now

Just asking, seems to be something very pointless to have a struggle over, especially on such a forum as this.

And I somehow doubt you're up there on the most social. But, we all have our thoughts.

Forming real connections with people. All my friends at work are just that, work buddies. I haven't had friends that come over and hang out or do things with for long period of time for years now.

It's not that bad, but having ulcerative colitis since I was 15. Other people have worse things. Probably additionally trying to be successful and finding a full time job is taking two years so far.

So far, not much by comparison to many here.

Moving away from my home country, camping in a tent for the 6 weeks of summer and then the subsequent divorce wasn't exactly a great time to have. Neither was trying to make new friends in the final year when everyone already had their established groups and I was just that strange Irish kid who didn't really understand what the fuck everyone was on about (Who knew rural Wales has such a strong take-up of Welsh amongst kids?...who knew they had a language other than English in the first place?!)

But I say my hardest struggle is still ahead of me. After (hopefully) graduating from my course, I've literally no clue what to do next. Should be good, though it has a tremendous likelihood of going bad.

Because it happened when I was young enough to not know what the fuck it was and old enough to be fully aware of it, I figured out my own way to handle it. Which surprise surprise was fucking terrible and instead of getting over it with a little bit of counselling or what have you it's burned it's way through me to the point where I'm pretty sure that it is me.
