Does this site really need groups? That would only split the activity even more.

I mean...

I could tighten up the rules so that it's a more friendly environment for newcomers. I seem to recall people being all for a more strictly moderated community. Activity is definitely stagnated for the moment and I'd be all for trying something new.

I really, really want to start building up a collection of reviews and articles created by users here and organize/display it on the front page after it gets a facelift. I would even be down with giving authors a cut of the ad money for page views on their article.

Mobile needs to be looked at, which I will have to do since Isara has vanished again (this is like the 32nd time...). I've been working with a really nice framework that would make the browsing experience here on mobile more like an app, so that will probably help if I can start work on it.

In the far future: Groups are going to be pushed back for the nth time so I can focus on this other stuff. Once SMF 2.1 releases a release candidate that is stable, I will likely upgrade the site and begin work on Sep7 3.0. This would allow us to have an alert system that works and a better PM system as well (along with a less tabled layout). But like I said...far future.

All good ideas. I'll look forward to what you have in store.

Regarding Isara, is he not on social media, or anything you could use to contact him beyond this site?

it's a website for discussion of science fiction and (to a lesser extent) fantasy. There's a lot of creative writing stuff and RP threads but my main thing is technical discussions, as there's a lot of discussion about the scientific and military practicality of a lot of SF stuff like tanks and spaceships and whatnot

it's a fairly large site and its been around for a while, I've only recently started using it.

Do we really want to do that though? I think there is a good reason why a lot of the bad seeds are permabanned here.

A lot of the permabans are over a year old at this point, or approaching it. I'm more than willing to give them another chance because, like it or not, it's gotten far more boring here without them.

Well that's going to be something for Cheat to decide, and who even knows how that will go or if anyone will even show up. Camnator has been off the grid for a very long time now.
