That is exactly what they did though, when they tried to declare the EU to be non-canon. None of the actual fan of Star Wars give a shit about that though, because you cannot erase thirty years of Star Wars history.

Well to be honest, a lot of the EU stuff in Star Wars was shit, i only found good decent ones like the Old Republic era, so i don't really care if the EU is non-canon.
