movies like john wick/drive

So I watched Drive and John Wick for the first time today, and I gotta say, I absolutely loved both movies. Fantastically stylish and moody with great soundtracks. Does anyone have any recommendations based on these two movies? I'm planning on checking out some old John Woo stuff but I need more. Much more.

its really really really good. it was directed by stunt geniuses (one of the directors was keanu's stunt double for the matrix) so the fight choreography is insane and goes super well with the cinematography and score. does a great job of worldbuilding too

Dredd isn't a remake, it's just a different movie telling a story about Dredd. It's not trying to redo the really gay Judge Dredd movie, it's just putting a Dredd comic into a film. It's amazingly good. Seriously watch it

i can see why people might not like drive. the driver's characterization pretty much came through only in his actions and physical gestures and it had a pretty b-movie plot. i was just extremely impressed by the cinematography and mood. i thought gosling did a great job as the driver too.

What makes it so perfect is it is literally written and shot just like a Judge Dredd comic book. I had read a few stories before seeing the movie, and after I picked up a collection of some of the generally agreed best Dredd stories and the movie is literally just like them. There is no bullshit, there is no romantic subplot, there is no deep philosophical message, there is nothing out of character or weird, it's just another day in Mega City One for Dredd, only he's training Judge Anderson who is a rookie in this movie.

He's just Dredd. He goes in there, fucks shit up, knows exactly what he's doing, and there is no bullshit. It's just Judge Dredd. Anderson has a little bit of internal conflict but it's done okay and doesn't mess with the movie at all; it's really just acknowledged and not harped on, and I think it was really done just to create a differentiation between Dredd and Anderson. It is literally an almost perfect movie. One of my favorite movies ever.

What pisses me off is that it didn't do too well in theaters, so it doesn't look like we'll get a sequel.
