"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.

Congrats! I don't care how fit you are, nobody should shame anybody else for it. We're all trying to better ourselves through fitness. I got into bodybuilding but lost my job 2 weeks in, so.......that's a bummer.

my max is 180 lbs or 81.6466 kgs

I weigh between 135-145 (never get to 150, and im always fluctuating for some reason)
Spoiler
I fear what this may start

It's terrible having internally consistent units that are common the world over.

That's terrible, but at least you can work out on almost no budget. I've been using my garage and weights taken from the dump as a makeshift gym.

Spoiler
And I'm not sure what you're afraid of; competition?

Yeah, I'm expecting a dick measuring contest.

I can do the weight side as well, diet was what was going to require money. That was the one area I always failed in, and I was ready to succeed. But life happened. Grandpa passed, lost my job right after that, didn't really want to keep it going and waste what little money I had.

That's heartbreaking to hear. I'd love to have another rival to go against but there's nothing you can really do about life when it's like that. Good luck with what you're doing anyway.

Thank ya. I told myself that once I got a decent paying job again I'd start it back up.
Hopefully I'll still be motivated.

Too bad bench pressing has no viable means of strength IRL other than a bragging notion and aesthetics.

Ya. It's a handy thing to be able to lift your own body weight. I started out this year in piss poor health and worked over the last 10-11 months to get back in livable shape again. I surpassed being able to lift and carry my own weight a while back a few months ago. But still pushing it.

Couple days ago I picked something up and moved it. Figure it was pretty close to my current maximum limit for lifting things. A 280 pound generator. I weigh 220. So, not bad I guess.

awesome man, that's a great accomplishment. i've been working out regularly for almost 3 years now, with a mixture of lifting, running, and cycling.

i'm not the biggest around, 6'0" tall and my weight fluctuates between 155-165, but i'd say i'm pretty strong for my size.

I used to lift, but college doesn't lend me enough free time anymore.

I only did it to prove the point that lifting is pointless anyway.
That is, if you're not interested in the way society thinks you should look. Which, you shouldn't be.

Before some issues with my Elbows mid this year, I was getting close to being able to do Hand Stand Pushups. Would be a neat Party Trick ayy.

Eh, Lifting to improve strength kind of ties in with overall fitness, and has more than just aesthetic/self confidence benefits. Especially for people working in trades and hard labor jobs, it can help with injury prevention as well as delay/prevent the onset of Back and Joint issues in old age. I'd encourage all people to do Gym at least for that purpose.

Chest strength has no practical application? lolwut?

Kinda puts things in perspective if I think about ants a little bit. If you're able to lift your own weight, then technically speaking you're able to lift 1x your own weight. Ants are well known for being capable of lifting 10x their own body weight. Hard to imagine myself lifting 10x my own weight.

I don't think the world's strongest human was even able to lift 10x his own weight. It gives me a bit of appreciation for the the way things naturally engineer themselves to a degree. You know, there you are, a big walking collection of "bits," all working together to make one thing we call a human being.

Whatever you expose that tangle of parts to, it adapts, slowly. Environment shapes you, and you shape your environment. And your bits and pieces respond, growing weaker or stronger. Funny.

When will you ever need to bench press outside of bench pressing? Never

Plus, you get chest strength from pushups and other more useful exercises anyway
