Sure, anime is over saturated with shit, but saying there's no good things coming out of it is blindly ignorant.

You can't call it stupid compared to Ore, Twintails ni Narimasu, or the constant drivel that spews from Japan in the form of shitty SOL or Harem. That's just talking about anime.

At least the basic premise is something that, while not original, it's semi-unusual and apparently, the game is really good.

Well, that's just you and a small minority.
I don't really care what gender the characters are as long as I enjoy it.

The game was aimed a specific audience, if it wasn't for you, that's not really the fault of the devs. Especially not since it was a huge hit.

The risk diminishes as soon as the franchise stays afloat and there's a loyal fanbase who is willing to purchase every game in the series, but it's still sort of there.

If I made something, and someone didn't like it, I'd kind of feel guilty, because I didn't make it enjoyable enough. Especially if I wasted their time and money.

Well, you have a point, but you have to look at it like: If they've made a product for  one group and that group loves it, they shouldn't worry about the people they didn't make the product for.

I see what you're getting at, but unfortunately, it's unefficient and a waste of resources to try to appeal to everyone.
Destiny is a good example of that.
They don't even have a fanbase, they have drones that don't know any better, because by trying to appeal to people, they've dragged in the lower form of what can be called "consumers".
