Just let natural selection run its course.
I remember when a gun instructor let a little 8 year old girl use an Uzi. It would've been fine of he let it stay on single fire mode or whatever it's called.
"This is why the general public should not have unrestricted access to firearms" is what you're trying to say. But yes, they should be a standard requirement for the few to own a gun.

That's a pretty emotional response to this issue. Only the tiniest fraction of all gun violence is committed with "assault rifles" while hand guns and semi-auto's are the most common culprit.

Ye a guy my mom dated in highschool ended up killing himself while drinking and cleaning his gun. I feel you on better gun safety education however some people are just careless.

It doesn't matter what mode it is on if that thing as kick to it the kid can still hurt themselves if they're not strong enough to handle the recoil. Even on semi the thing can kick up at them or whoever and they may pull the trigger.
Or we should stop letting stupid people have guns.
