Thy art is murder, a moderately successful metal band, is calling it quits because they only make $16,000 a year COMBINED.

Why do they make so little?

No one buys music anymore. They stream it or pirate it.

The music industry is dying, and before long all that will be left are big label bands.

It doesn't matter whether or not they think it's worth money. The fact is, if you want to use something that you have to pay for, you should pay for it. I think DVDs are overpriced, but I'm not going to pirate them because I don't think they're worth that much money.

It's not justification but it shows where these companies priorities lie, anti piracy measures have nothing to do with them loosing money to piracy. Speaking as someone in NZ, the Kim Dotcom case is pretty clear proof that anti-piracy measures are just a means to legally shutdown anyone they don't like.
