Okay, so on Windows 7, if say a power outage happens and after the outage I turn my computer back on, I get the Windows error recovery screen stating that it did not shut down normally and all I have to do is highlight and choose Start Windows normally.

But tonight (just 10 minutes ago)  I was trying to unplug my phone charger, and my finger slipped on the switch of my power strip, turning everything off, including my computer.

I pretty much got mad knowing how fucked I am for doing that.

I waited a little bit, and then turned the switch back on. Oddly enough my keyboard lit up (it's a keyboard with backlights, makes it easy to type a night) but my computer was still off.

So I turned it on, and to my surprise, it just booted to Windows. Took a little be longer than how it usually is (boots up very fast when I turn it on normally after shutting it down normally) but still. No Windows Error Recovery Screen, nothing.

Is it suppose to do that? I'm kinda worried. Well I'm more worried about my hardware right now but still. Is this right? Windows 8.1 didn't even give me a prompt saying "your computer shut down unexpectedly." like how Windows 7 would after it boot up.

Should I be worried? I know I'm good with software and can usually fix things just fine. I probably shouldn't worry, but I thought I'd ask.

I think it only will pop up if you habitually turn off the system wrong. I may be wrong though because I don't use Windows 8 on any of my computers.

Umm. I did habitually turn off the system wrong. If anything what I simulated was a power outage, except I caused it with a slip of the finger on my power strip, which of course is designed to protect my equipment.

Damn I'm gonna have to have XBL set the date and time on my Xbox again.

Alright well, I got work tomorrow. Gonna shut this thing off now. Properly.
