We all know she can't truly be black if she doesn't have that wild hair and those insanely large earrings. Anyway I think this is an interesting idea. Identity wise it would be safer for the hero identity to be the opposite sex that way it throws off the persons enemies. I had the same idea for Batman. Bruce retires from being a hero so he takes an apprentice to carry on who happens to be female. The suit is modified to make her appearance male which also has a voice changer to make her voice sound male.

This reminds me of the story where they announced that Hermoine from Harry Potter was going to be portrayed by a black girl.

While I don't take issue with the fact that she's black, it's just annoying to have to be okay with something that was done purely for political reasons, and if you're not okay with it, then you're a racist.
