I read that NASA got less than one percent of the federal budget. I need to fact check that but regardless making a rocket is pretty hard. The amount of variables that could contribute to failure must be... astronomical.
The one thing that genuinely depresses me is knowing that I likely won't live to see a colony set up on another panetary body, because we simply don't have the technology.
