King tweeted something interesting.

He said:

The Dark Tower is close, now. The Crimson King awaits. Soon Roland will raise the Horn of Eld. And blow,"

If you read the books, you know that Roland didn't have the horn in them.

He was in a time loop that had him repeating his mistakes over and over again until he changed. His refusal to change was his hell.

If Roland has the horn (which he acquired in the closing of the book) then the movies are SEQUELS to the books. 

The Gunslinger story was already pretty meta. To do this...

If it's true, this is awesome. It means we can have a fully original take on it. It isn't a adaptation that would let us down, but a stand alone story.

Kinda sounds like he's just hyping up the end of the story, though.
