Why is it ok to kill and eat cows, chickens, pigs, lambs, deer, and other animals but god forbid jo kills a fucking raccoon?I hate to beat a dead horse (lol) but what is the issue? This obviously doesn't apply to verb or anyone else who doesn't consume animal products.

No its okay to conduct mass slaughter of certain animals but a one off is terrible and you should kill yourself.
Because when people take the more direct/personal approach in taking a life the negative feelings and responsibility associated with the act are highlighted.

TBPH, I do have a problem with sport hunters. The assholes who kill an animal just for the thrill of killing it. My grandfather went moose hunting one year, and guess what we ate exclusively for 6 months? Fucking moose meat. If you plan to hunt, bring it home and eat it, not just the head or rack.
I don't give two shits what you eat. If you want to live on the blood of baby bunnies and roast crows over a spit, that's your perogative.Doesn't mean I have to think any of it looks appetizing.

I don't think anyone actually believes that eating livestock is morally right

I'm just not seeing how it relates to the question posed in the OP.If I was a better person, in a better situation I probably wouldn't eat meat. But I don't see what that has to do with why people think eating cow is okay but racoon is gross.

There's a difference between an execution and a prolonged torture. That's why you should only eat meat that comes from a reputable source, not a factory farm.

If someone abuses a dog, does it matter if it's a dachshund or a poodle?I'm just saying I'm not going to care if you want to eat a nasty-ass crow; veggies are veggies, meat is meat, soylent green is people. I just don't think anybody should be surprised when I don't want to nibble off of Toucan Sam's leg.
