Can anyone recommend useful apps to help maintain your computer's performance? I'm not really talking about anitviruses or anything, I use the built-in Windows Defender and it works just fine. Just looking to make sure this new laptop continues to stay in tip-top shape. God knows it deserves it after its last owner.

FYI I also haven't fixed the keyboard/mouse issue. It's possible it just takes a few minutes after start up to work properly.

I'm a big fan of formatting the hard drive and starting fresh. It takes a few hours but it's well worth it to get all the shit out.

And it's still running slowly? You need more RAM.  What's it got now?

No, it's running fine. I just want to maintain it.

It's 8GB of DDR3.

Long live NoNolesNeckin.

Ya fuckin' ganderneck.
I just use CCleancer and Defrag to keep my shit up to speed.

If you formatted your shit and it's still slow then you might have a hardware issue. Is your HDD old? They do get slower over time.

EDIT: nvm your shit is fine.

CCleaner clears your drives of unnecessary shit. Kind of like clearing your history/cache/cookies on your browser, but for your drives instead.

Defrag rearranges the files on your HDD because they become 'fragmented' over time and it slows your HDD down.

They're both reliable?

CCleaner is one of the most well known and recommended apps for cleaning your drives. The full version isn't free but you can still use the free version to clean your shit.

Defrag is a windows app and should already be on your PC.

So now my laptop is plugged in but is getting an intermitten charge. It'll charge for a few seconds, then the charge stops, then it comes back, so on and so forth. How do I check if it's the charger itself or my computer's battery?

you could always use performance monitor just to look at and check your pc to see if everything is running fine. It's built in so no need for downloading anything.

Excuse me, I'm full of dog poison
Get malwarebytes to supplement defender and buy a new battery if you don't want to have the thing plugged in 24/7.

Battery can be located by looking up the model.

There's a really neat one called soluto or something that's meant to tell you how long until all the background programs are running after startup
