So the last day of the EB games Expo (2 days ago now) a young girl was posing for a photo, and she had a fake gun, a sniper rifle, and was pointing it across the road, next thing you know a cop car happens to drive past, pulls over, walks into the expo, confiscates her gun and arrests her.

This also happened to another cosplayer who was sitting in a tree...in the show grounds, having a photo taken, out of no where cops show up and arrest her......I will mention two days earlier a police officer was shot dead in the city, so I know they may have been on edge.....but still, when it was clearly innocent.

Next thing all cosplayers, even in the show grounds had to have their props (be it guns, swords......and lightsabres) be covered in electrical security tape (there was a twitter post but they took it down) and all cosplayers who wears makes and helmets are to remove them immediately after leaving the showgrounds.

Across the road from us was the NRL Grand final....Australian football in short, with a few thousand goers whom were concerned or who would apparently call the police in turn to seeing people in costume walk back to the parking areas (they both shared the same parking facility) brandishing fake weapons, in turn apparently scaring them. I had a lot of odd looks too when I was walking back. Funnily enough, they all stayed well away from me.

So the normies be scared, and thus ruined the last day of the expo for cosplayers >.>

This message is being sent to alert you to the planned ceremonial use of weapons at a dedication event located on campus.
 
On Thursday, October 8, at noon, the Fallen Bison Memorial will be dedicated during a ceremony that is expected to last about 30 minutes. The memorial honors NDSU students, faculty and alumni who have died in the line of duty. The closing of the ceremony includes a gun salute, which will utilize blank ammunition and consist of three volleys of seven rifle shots each.
 
At no time will a live round be present for this dedication.
 
The gun salute will take place in proximity of the Fallen Bison Memorial, which is located near University Drive, south of the Bentson/Bunker Fieldhouse on the north side of Centennial Boulevard. 
 
Approval for the ceremonial use of weapons during the salute has been arranged for and authorized in accordance with NDSU Policy 706.
