"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
I disagree with you.

Elaborate.
Well you see your entire argument is that human engineering won't find a way to negate those negative effects on us.
Science is powerful bro.

It's all about random chance at the end though. We're not smart enough as a species to over come many things, and there is still so much unknown out in the vast void of space. We don't even know our own planet inside out, our oceans haven't even been fully explored.

We're just as clueless as the rest of the animals that walk the earth except we have a mind to adapt with instead of just wandering around like a lost animal, but even at that we still have flaws in our system.

For instance, 5 years from now there is a chance that a meteorite that's the size if Manhattan New York is going to hit the earth leaving a massive crater killing all of us off in the process.

I haven't heard anything about it since 2005, and to be honest that's what scares me the most then the stupid bullshit that went on with the world ending in 2012. Oh and the world actually could have ended on July 23rd of 2012 instead. We were a few inches away of our planet becoming fried matter from the sun from what I've heard. I'm not sure just how true it is, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Oh, and if humanity is still alive when our sun is dying, good luck trying to survive that. It will wipe everything out of it's path when it explodes.
Okay, the Sun isn't going to explode, learn astronomy please, this stuff triggers me. Edit with more will come, but I had to say that.

In this life time? No. The Sun won't explode. I'm talking about later on.

Please study your science carefully.
I will cut you the fuck up, do not mess with me on this. The sun is not of sufficient mass to explode. It will enlarge to a red giant, then go to a white dwarf.

If that's what you seriously believe then I do feel sorry for your great great great great great great (you get the idea) grandkids should humanity be around long enough to even witness that.
No. It's the simple fact that that is literally [LITERALLY] BILLIONS of years away. Billions. Do you even understand how long that is? I certainly can't comprehend it. We would be loooong gone from Earth before we even had a chance at being fried in a supernova or be frozen from lack of heat with a white dwarf.

That is unless we find ways to live underground and adapt to the harsh environment. But I wouldn't be surprise if the whole human race just got nuked overnight. There is also that possibility of countries launching nukes. Let's hope no one is really stupid enough to use them.
Shit doesn't happen like that, because life isn't that action-movie like, and because people care about self preservation and don't want to kill each other off.

I'm sorry but I disagree. Human nature has proven time and time again that you cannot trust everyone. Did you forget about rape? Murder? You think that won't happen? You think everyone in the world actually gives a damn about self preservation?

If so, you need to unplug yourself from the matrix and wake up.
That's a mighty big assumption you have there. Jumping from rape and murder existing to we are very likely to just initiate MAD tomorrow.

All we have are tenacity and ingenuity. We're fortunate that those make up for us being one of the weakest, slowest, least physically accustomed species among those at the upper portion of the food chain.

"Obsoletion" implies there is something to replace us that is more efficient or superior to us as we are.

Although I would enjoy knowing that the human race will come to an end soon, I disagree with your assessment.

Unless the planet gets fried, something will replace us.

Not necessarily.

And even if something did replace us, they wouldn't necessarily be superior to us, which wouldn't make us obsolete.

Unless it's another new species of humans, how the hell would you know that?

I wouldn't. We're assuming that humanity has just ceased to exist, correct? If we're gone, and another species evolves to take our place, they aren't necessarily superior to us. It isn't a prerequisite. They very well could be superior to us, but they don't have to be. They are simply filling the power void left by our absence. You understand?

If another species evolved to surpass us, then that would make us obsolete. But that isn't happening anytime soon.

The instant we can start uploading minds into robot bodies, the age of puny organics is at an end.

And on the day we can make that happen, Mr. Psychologist's trousers will be soaked.

The universe doesn't have standards. It just does as conditions permit. The stars may not wince when you die but they don't cheer when you accomplish either. It's true.

However that doesn't allude to us being obsolete. The only thing it alludes to is that we aren't 'this way' or 'that way' ultimately, and that the concept of even being obsolete is utterly meaningless.

Humanity is, and that is that. You can try to measure the state of our existence and judge it in any number of subjective ways, but that doesn't mean that said state is going to be any different the instant after you've finished measuring it and forming your opinion,  than it was the instant before. The only thing you taking the time to measure and judge the state of humanity has the potential to change is your mindset which is no more absolute than the fleeting human race that gave birth to it.

Don't fret over impermanence. Humanity will pass but so does everything else. Animals, plants, love, hate, happiness, suffering, civilization, anarchy, the earth, the moon, and even those stars that don't even wince.

Someone finally gets it.
It's peculiar that you agree with me and yet believe that humanity is obsolete as such a way of thinking as above is what allows me to disregard the concept of being obsolete.

Well, eventually humanity will be.

I'm aware. Hence, tenacity. We can keep moving a hell of a lot longer than any other species on the planet, but we couldn't hope to beat most of them in a race.

Why does being faster, stronger count for shit when those other abilities allowed us basic mastery over a most of the landmass on the planet?

Humans are also pretty good at tracking and endurance running.

You ever try chasing an animal?

If you're somewhat fit and aim to keep it in your sights instead of actually trying to catch up it'll run out of breath long before you do.

Iirc this was what ancient humans did to their prey before we got all comfy and fat.

Or skinny and weak.

I can tell you right now I would be the first to die off if it wasn't for civilization. I'm the weakest in the pack.
