But I'm not constantly bitching about not having a gf

You made too many assumptions coming in here
It's almost like you're projecting

i don't have to project—i am lonely

the difference is that i'm okay with that, and would never post a thread like this about it, because it's cringe

And you don't think you're generalizing a tad? Whether or not it's pathetic is redundant, I think the meme is just a manifestation of perceived hopelessness with no conduit to express said feeling anywhere else than in something that's veiled as "cringy" humor. Sit down with any of these people and talk to them and you'll find some of them can be articulate about just how awful they feel.

Whether or not a relationship is going to solve all their problems like they might hope it would is also irrelevant, because if the problem was solved they'd likely learn very quickly that it wasn't the case. I don't know if it's quite so fair to chastise those who feel hopeless on this note. Would we chastise a day dreamer who dreams of a better life outside his wageslave job and eventually starts to think that if the dream were a reality all of his problems would be solved?People tend to put a lot of stock into singular keys for fixing their lives when they lack hope.
there's a fundamental difference between vocalizing one's desires to have a better life from a vocational standpoint, and being sad that nobody's presently sucking on your genitals

you can be sad that nobody's sucking on your genitals all you want, but this internet culture of throwing pity parties for all the poor dudes out there who just can't get a break when it comes to women is just impossible for me to sympathize with, because none of these guys are actually taking any of the steps necessary to getting what they want—they're mostly just patting themselves on the back for being losers, and i kinda just refuse to take part in that

You're implying that all of them have sexual intent in mind. What about the ones that don't? What about the ones in environmental situations such as sparse populations? What about ones who can't seem to fill the intelligence gap? Or the ones who lost the genetic lookie loo lottery?

I'm not defending the behavior nor the pity parties of the thirsties out there who are too short sighted to see that if they want to achieve something in their life they have to make active change. I just think you're using too big of a brush and sweeping the other exceptions to contrary under the rug far too easily. It's easy to call somebody a loser until you sit down in their shoes.

all of these people have better things to worry about than relationships, and because of this, even if they do feel lonely every once in a while, they're essentially incapable of being pathetic about it, because their situation has forced them to have priorities

well, they're the only people i'm talking about obviously

you say you're not trying to defend them, but i've personally never seen anyone try to defend whining about petty shit this hard—where i come from, it is universally reviled behavior

Funny thing about those people and their priorities. It's the other way around. They've adopted priorities in order to hide from the thing that's eating them. By keeping moving, working, doing whatever, they're less aware of that nag at the back of their head, but it's still there.

As for defense, no. I would've called it that if it were. Just an examination of all the varying angles and a half hearted attempt on my part to discuss something with more depth than a puddle, even though we're typically talking about people with the depth of a puddle.

that's more or less what i'm saying; this sort of thing is all about adaptation, and adapting to your situation doesn't have to be the result of an imposition or losing the genetic lottery

when i see a college student living in the cushy first world who could be a little smarter, but doesn't have any socially crippling mental disorders mope about how lonely they are, i see a person who hasn't adapted to his situation properly, and doesn't seem to be doing anything about it

that's what i don't like, because that person has, quite frankly, the smallest amount of hurdles to get into a relationship out of anyone else in the world—and they have the gall to beggar for attention about it on the internet. fact is, you know what you have to do to improve yourself, so just do it, and you'll probably find yourself a gf in no time

it does not get more simple

now, in fairness, we are living in covidtimes, so it's not like dating has become easier, but posting a thread like this still makes you look like a thirsty little prick to me no matter what

I’m literally the same way, like I am fine being single. You trade a lot of freedom once you’re in a relationship, and in exchange you get more company and security. Right now I’m in one and living with someone and finally not my mom, but it still feels like I have to be fake & nice sometimes even when I’m not in a good mood. I guess it’s just being polite but still, acting as an emotion contrary to what you’re actually feeling can be difficult.

I can't much argue with that. Due fairness, we also live in times of massive social change. The dynamics between sexes are changing. But another thing to consider. Pain is relative to the person experiencing it for the first time. Of course a cushy college kid is going to rant on the internet, a place of neurotic divulgence no less, because that might be the hardest thing they've encountered so far in their life. Perhaps years later their whining will look much different to them if they've managed to grow and evolve as a person.

Why can't a person think it'd be nice to have a gf instead of being a rock who doesn't need anybody or a sad puppy who can't survive without a partner

An individual is incomplete without the Many. What is a drop of rain, compared to the storm? What is a thought, compared to a mind? Our unity is full of wonder, which your tiny individualism cannot even conceive. We yearn to join all with our biomass so that they may feel the joy of being a part of the whole. The Many protect us. We are, we are...

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
Maybe 'tfw no gf' boils down to wanting both the wholeness in themselves as well as the love of another person to add to that, that usually comes along with it as a bonus.

It's not like millenials who do the whole 'I want to die' 'same' routine actually want to die, but that the world is so fucked that they are powerless and numbed by it that this sentiment rings out.

It's the underlying shit man. Though it can also be sad lonely creeps.

Verb, would you date someone like yourself?
part of the point of dating is to find someone with whom you share a lot of things in common, right?

so in that sense, absolutely

but if she was almost exactly like me, while i feel like that kind of relationship would be nice and peaceful, it wouldn't necessarily go anywhere—i feel like basically every conversation we'd have would be a boring circlejerk

but we'd be there for each other, and maybe that's what counts. idk

i think it can be advantageous to have the kind of relationship where you fill each other's gaps—the fact that i can't drive means that i would appreciate having someone who can, and in exchange, maybe i'll learn how to cook for her or some shit

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
why have a gf when you can not
