sigh, for you non britfags this was a government grant to help with student living costs whilst at university. really reconsidering university now, i mean i want to go but i don't to want to lose an arm and a leg just to pay for it.

If you are really concerned about the money, the open university is probably the best option. I don't know if they'd have the course you want but it might be worth a look before writing it off.

It's a load of shit but at least they're giving us more loans instead. If they got rid of them entirely I'd be super duper pissed with the Cuntservatives.

After my four years I'll now have a debt of just under £70,000.

Ehh, I can live with that. It doesn't actually affect me but once again it's going to put people off going and usually from all the wrong backgrounds too. Someone working their way up from the gutters isn't going to blow a chance at uni on some liberal arts nonsense, but if they see the option comes tied in with ridiculous amounts of debt (even with a reasonable repayment system) then it's not going to help matters.

It seems my year is the last for everything nice... oh well.

Thankfully the Welsh government covers 2/3 of my tuition fees, but the English one has totally fucked it's kids over.

It won't be that bad, given the nature of the debt burden we face after leaving Uni. Everybody seems to forget that how much you pay back is contingent on how much you eventually earn. The higher debt burden isn't nice sure, and it's annoying to me, but I'd take higher maintenance loans over Labour lowering the tuition fees.

True, the worst case scenario is you pay nothing and it gets wiped after 30 years... so long as they don't change that by the time you lot get into Uni.
