Super Saiyan 2 was never really meant to be a "5th grade". all the other grades were the idea that Vegeta first stated, to ascend beyond a Super Saiyan, but they failed. they did not truly ascend.that's what it all built up to. Gohan truly ascended beyond a Super Saiyan, unlike all the others. Super Saiyan 2 was the next level, the other 'grade' forms were just forced power increases on the original form.
