Holy fuck I hated how they made Luke act in this film. Sucks to also find out he never actually left the island, then he dies. Jesus Christ. I feel like the most obvious no-brainer things people expect like having luke han and leia reunite onscreen are somehow the fan service things they fuck up. Didn't happen in TFA. But it's so obvious to do that but they can do every other thing. And now Han is dead, Carrie Fisher is literally dead, and now Luke, so that's impossible now. They just need other people to make these movies, they cannot do it right.

Also was hoping they'd tone down on the jokes and make Finn less comic-relief, instead that's all he is. So I hate this character now. Worst part about this movie was Rose, she can just die.

The Snoke Throne Room scene was one of they hypest movie scenes ever to me, so there's that.

I think the movie was quite good, maybe sometimes being like "SEE WE'RE DIFFERENT GUYS" and suffers some tonal problems with the humour.

Starting with Luke, I think he was done well. The moment of weakness he has when he almost kills Ben goes a long way in telling me why he seemed so defeated, he almost killed a kid, that's pretty fucked up. And he also failed to make sure Ben wasn't seduced by the dark side and his order was destroyed because of him. The one problem I kinda have was if he was so against the Jedi continuing, why did he decide to stay at the first Jedi temple? Maybe he didn't feel that at first? He seems opposed to the idea that Ben could be redeemed too, which is odd because he was a staunch believer that Vader could be, even when he was told to just leave by Leia.

Going to Snoke, I think his death was probably a good thing for Ben's character because now he's done something Vader never could have in killing his master. I don't really feel strongly or anything about him as a character or theorised like "ZOMG HE'S DARTH PLAGIEUS" so whatever, he's dead and it'll probably be better for Ben's character.

Canto Bight was so fucking pointless and it definitely felt like it existed so Finn and Rose had something to do while Poe was busy on the Resistance ship and Rey was with Luke on Ach To. And speaking of planets, Crait was seriously just Hoth.

Rey and Ben's relationship was really great, linking them through the force was a nice idea so they could interact beyond seeing each other on the battlefield or something.

My favourite thing about the film though was it being about the Resistance's escape attempt after TFA, just being out of range of the Star Destroyers and having the frigates run out of fuel to be immediately destroys gives it a nice tension and really had me wanting Finn and Rose to find the master whatever it was (before I found out they didn't destroy the tracker because Benicio Del Toro betrayed them). The assault on the dreadnought at the start was great, somewhat irresponsible on Poe's part but it's a good thing he did because having that as well as the Supremacy and the Star Destroyers there wouldn't have been good. I was really rooting for Poe over Holdo since her plan seemed silly at first but it worked out in the end so I can respect that. Super Leia looked really silly too, but the idea of it was fine.

I came out of the movie thinking "Wow, what can the Resistance hope to do now that the entirety of it is here on the Falcon" which hey, that's great I'm invested in the characters enough to want to see them beat the First Order, I want to know where Ben will go now and how Rey will see him. Also what role Luke and Yoda at least will play from here on out, if anything.

For me, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver stole the show. Poe didn't really do much past the battle at the Resistance Base, but acting more like a leader makes me really excited to see where they'll take him in Episode 9, as he'll likely be a figurehead in the Resistance going forward, taking leadership at multiple points and seeming to get Leia's blessing at the end. Adam did a great job at portraying Ben, whether it be in dialogue or action, my eyes were glued to the screen.
