Also, really not a fan of Finn. His character was basically a 2015 black guy dropped into the Star Wars universe, despite being a bred soldier for the First Order (a janitor that was, for some reason, assigned to an important raid on Jakku).

He was a janitor on the big planet while he was there. Coulda been when he was younger. He was assigned to a squad and all that when he was older I believe.

That's fine. I just don't think he added much to the movie.

I have to agree with Turkey on this one. Finn was a wasted opportunity.

I had a feeling I wasn't going to enjoy his character since I first saw him, and I was right. He just didn't do anything for me.

In the first two trailers, every time you see him he's breathing hard.

I just thought it was funny and I couldn't take him seriously.

Adam Driver nailed the part, though. It's exactly how Anakin should've been portrayed.

He was a lot more scruffy and grown up looking at Comic Con.

The characters I liked and cared about are Han Solo, Rey, Chewy, Luke (yes i know he barley does anything and doesn't say anything but he's still my favorite character) R2D2, C3PO, BB8, The guy who was helped by Finn and trying to escape Kylo Rens ship, and Leia.

Finn is meh

Kylo Ren was O.K

(Literally the only two characters that I sort of care but not really give a shit about)

That was my hope directly after seeing the movie. I always hated the idea of every new character just being a child of an older character. I think it's more likely, however, that she's Luke's kid, considering Han, Leia, and Kylo all seemed to know who she was and the CGI said Luke's sword was her destiny.

I'm just confused as to what role Finn is gonna have now.

A side ally character like Han or Lando.

But thats another critic issue I have with Ep. 7, it's literally a new hope 2.0, thats not being original at all, why couldn't they do something different? "Oh but the prequels did it different" thats called taking a new approach, its not bad if its done right. The prequels did an awful job (well minus Ep. 3, decent but not great) is because of George Lucas, if it was a different director (like J.J Abram) to direct the prequels with better writing and story, then my complaint for the prequels will be wiped away. There are times where taking a different approach isn't necessary, however sometimes taking a different approach isn't the main issue, it's how you handle it.

Yea I agree. Strange that J.J. isn't doing the next one though.

Abrams isn't directing the next one? Why not?

I have no idea, maybe he didn't feel like doing it (i'm not J.J Abrams so i can't really say why he's not doing Ep. 8/9)
