"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
You have to wonder whether or not Harrison Ford made JJ kill Han off, or if it was part of the plan the entire time.

I mean, I understand the obvious parallel drawn between Han and Obi-Wan from ANH (both are father-figures for the main character, who see them both get cut down by the main antagonist with their own eyes), but it just strikes me as a bit rushed.

I guess the only way we'd know for sure is if Harrison makes an appearance in flashbacks or maybe the Boba Fett movie that's coming.
Ford didn't want it. It sounds like they're very very roughly following EU with some characters, so you'd think that if Ford was okay with doing more, he wouldn't die immediately upon return. I mean, it's possible that was the plan all along, but it sounds very unlikely.

Harrison Ford has wanted Han Solo to die since like Episode 4 or 5.

That's kind of a shitty thing for Ford to do, to be honest.

It would be one thing if it was all a part of the plan from the get-go. But I doubt that was the case for the reasons I stated earlier.

I'm not saying he can't do what he wants, I'm saying it's a dick move to make the director change the story because he doesn't feel like getting paid even more money than before.

The saddest part is that he will never share screen time with Luke again...and when Luke was mentioned he seemed angry at first. "Yeah, I knew him..."

I didn't get the feeling he was angry, just disappointed at everything that happened.

As one of the main characters in the biggest franchise of all time, you have an obligation to your fans to follow through on what the director thinks is the best plan for the universe. They're the ones that made you a shit ton of money. They're the ones that cherish you. You owe it to them.

Because you don't feel like making another movie (whilst getting paid more money than some people make in their life) is not proper justification to change JJ's plans.

Harrison Ford has wanted Han Solo to die since like Episode 4 or 5.

Ford wanted Han to die because he thought it would add some real emotional punch to the climax of the trilogy, and didn't see a way for Solo to be written in future installments.

Though he changed his tune after 2010 on Solo, and when talking about Solo in VII he said he was interesting because of the time that had passed.

Though I think as much as it sucks, Solo had to die. Because Ren can't complete his turn to the Dark Side if he's conflicted about his father, so killing him was the only way. Solo's death was vital to Kylo Ren's story arc, and Solo died trying to redeem his son.

It wasn't flashy, it wasn't epic, but he died doing the right thing.

If Harrison Ford didn't do the movie, Mark Hamill said he wouldn't have either.

Let's be honest, it's a generation shift anyway. Yes we have Han here, yes we're paying homage to the originals, but it's time for a new generation to rise.

It's how it should be. Be thankful the new characters are actually likable. A problem with the prequels is that a lot of people thought it'd get better after episode 1, but there weren't many likable characters at all. Obi-Wan was the only consistent good character throughout the prequels if you ask me. And Mace Windu, but we all love Samuel Jackson.

YES THEY DESERVE TO DIE, AND I HOPE THEY BURN IN HELL!

I don't think Harrison Ford hates Star Wars or Han Solo. He just felt the character's time had come, his death was needed to push the story. If they wanted him to have some kind of role in Episode VIII with Mark and Carrie I'm sure he'd do it.

Sure, he had to die eventually. But it felt rushed the way they did it. Han should've been given more screen time or something, I don't know. It felt way too quick for me.

Also, can we talk about the music for a moment? And how crappy it was?

The trailers had way more badass music than the movie. Nothing new felt any good here.

Yeah.... I personally wish he didn't die. Like you said, he didn't die in ROTJ and plenty has changed, perhaps his death wasn't needed now.

Not sure about the rushed aspect, but he could have died way differently. Chewie died in the book "Vector Prime" by saving one of Han's kids then being left by the Falcon so it could escape. He let out a roar and beat his chest as the moon crashed into Sernpidal.

I dunno, something epic like that.

It wasn't crappy, but it just wasn't as powerful in a lot of cases. I hope these new ones will produce something like Duel of Fates that episode 1 had. If there was one good thing about the prequels, it was some of the music that was around.

But I guess in the end -- Sort of feels like everyday its harder to stay happy where you are. There are all these ways to look through the fence into your neighbor's yard.

Why even risk it? its safer to stay distant.

He doesn't owe the director anything. He owes the fans everything.
And he's given to the fans. Ford wanted his character dead for a while and I'm sure him and Abrams came to an agreement. It's very powerful his own son kills him. That easily sets up great fuel and rivalry and darkness for the next two films.

What else do you want from him?
