From personal experience, I can tell you it's much better than staying home and doing nothing. There are social aspects to it too, on top of feeling better physically on a consistent basis. There's not a whole lot of reward or consequence in terms of major life ambition, granted, but it's still good to do.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
Is sleeping a sport? Because I seem to be pretty bad at it, just like all sports.

how does going to the gym prove that it's a waste of time?
because i'm not gaining anything out of it--and you can't really show that without doing it yourself

fitness for the sake of fitness will not improve your life in any meaningful or important way--people don't seem to understand this

1. You're setting out to prove that fitness for the sake of fitness will not improve your life in any meaningful way. And you're accomplishing your goal by proving that fitness isn't improving your life in any meaningful way. Because you set that goal for yourself.

I really, really, really, have to point out the genius of that. No really. Hands down here. Bravo.

2. My degenerate lungs and heart would like to have a word with you. Although they're sub par at functioning, me being a slight workaholic and moving around so much intentionally either when I work or on my own free time keeps them in their best condition that they're able to reach.

Which therefore improves my lifespan because I'm in shape. I can last longer than other people.

part of the mission is to prevent cheeky faggots from saying shit like "you're only saying that because you don't go to the gym--you're just jealous that other people are more fit than you"

and then, i can prove them wrong

i don't think i need to tell you that longer lifespans don't necessarily lead to a quality existence--whether you live until 60 or 90, it really doesn't make much of a difference

i mean, you've said the same shit to me before

First point is a fair enough sort of deal. Although like I said. You're not getting anything from it because you set out with the intention of not getting anything from it. Which...doesn't really prove your point to said cheeky people.

And the second part. True enough, it doesn't really matter what age you reach before you drop.

But I'll tell you what I notice.

The 70, 80, and 90 year old people up here who are still capable of doing things in their old age, and not consigned to their couch all day or a nursing home, are significantly happier than any other people I know. They're physically in their best shape which they can achieve for their age and it greatly affects them for the better.

So keep in mind, their quality existence is partially achieved by the fact that they don't let age or even injuries slow them down and they make an active effort to stay healthy.
