he's a new spider-man character (to clarify, he is a spider-man, has similar powers to peter), half black half puerto rican. he's really cool. introduced relatively recently, in 2011 at part of the ultimate line. donald glover played his uncle aaron davis (prowler) in homecoming, and mentioned him to peter in passing when he said he had a nephew in queens

So is it going to lead off into its own series like the other Marvel heroes or is he getting merged into the group movies? I know he's getting a single sequel but usually they make like two or three more movies from what I've seen.

he's supposed to be in infinity war so it's basically a normal MCU addition just with sony's involvement/skimming off the top. i think marvel might buy the rights wholesale in a few years with the profits of a few spidey movies & ongoing merch sales (they apparently still have the rights to sell spidey merch still and he is by far the most profitable retail hero)

Was an excellent movie, felt like a return to form for marvel movies and Spiderman movies. Was a bit more YA than I'm used to for the character, but I'm interested to see where they go with this.

I also like the Scorpion introduction and that they didn't kill off a villain. They really should put more of an emphasis on keeping a rogues galleries for the heroes for worldbuilding and so they don't burn through all the big ones too fast.

If you are a Puritan I expect you to start hating it. But for me, it is a great movie that finally has its own soul like the Dark Knight.

It takes liberty in story and casting which I feel does the movie and the character great justice. After seeing enough comic based or book based movies failing due to hem trying to copy the books or try something else, I prefer this direction of keeping the spirit of the story alive but going in different creative direction.

Obviously, both approach their characters differently, but both heavily deviate from their sources and try to create a movie that still captures the essence of the comics even if characters and other plot points are different.

they're not even comparable in terms of quality, and don't deserve to be compared to so casually

a better example would be the winter soldier
